10 Tips For A Healthier You (Lose 5 Pounds In One Week Or Less)


1) Drink a full glass of water before and after a meal so you will be full faster. Also try to make water your primary drink in replace of sugary ones like cokes or juices.

2) Don't eat past a certain time, preferably 3 hours before you sleep. I try not to eat past 7 pm! If you have to eat or get hungry, try drinking non sugary drinks like water, tea, or milk.

3) This one is a hard one....DO NOT GO SHOPPING! I repeat NO SHOPPING! If you have a goal weight you are trying to reach, don't buy any new clothes until you've reach that goal. This will keep you motivated to lose that weight.

4) Exercise! Not only can exercising burn calories, but it too can help you regulate bowel movements. No need for a gym membership. Keep workout fun and easy. Just put on 3 or 4 favorite dance tunes and 'shake what your mama gave ya.' 20 minutes of exercise a day will do wonders!

5) Brush your teeth! Toothpaste contains sodium lauryl sulfate, an effective foamer, which acts as a taste modifier, temporarily suppressing the sweet receptors of the tongue. This makes eating sugary snacks like chocolate or juices taste weird or even bitter, thus discouraging unhealthy snacking!

6) Here's one of my favorite weight loss tips. Get a massage! Yes that's right, massages can help you lose weight. Regular massage sessions increase circulation, which can speed up your metabolic rate, allowing your body to burn more calories faster.

7) Be a busy bee. Keep yourself occupied by either cleaning the house, gardening, organizing,scrap booking, or even playing with the kids. The more occupied your mind and body is doing activities the less you think about food or going to the kitchen. This really works, because if you think about it when was the last time you saw a fat bee?

8) Naturally increasing your bowel movement! Gross, I know, but the more often you can cleanse your body of waste, the faster you will lose weight. You can do this by eating more fiber. 

9) Never skip a meal! This will just make you hungrier and will cause you to eat more. In fact, it's actually better to eat more often (5-8 times a day including snacks) then just sticking to 3 meals a day. Just make sure you eat smaller, healthier portions each time. 

10) Make the decision to start NOW! Stop making excuses or putting it off. Once you've made the decision to lose weight, stay motivated and stick with it till you've reach your goal. Everyone deserves a healthier, happier life.

Depression During and After Pregnancy


Depression during pregnancy is common but often goes undetected since many of the symptoms of depression are similar to many general symptoms of pregnancy such as disturbances in sleep and appetite and low energy. However any woman that notices a link between pregnancy and depression should see their health care provider and discuss symptoms and treatment options.

Depression during pregnancy impacts both mother and child and requires immediate treatment since depression during pregnancy can result in a woman taking less care of herself, can result in a reduction in appetite and depressed women are more inclined to smoke cigarettes, abuse alcohol or take illegal drugs all of which can result in health problems for an unborn baby.

Treatment for depression during pregnancy includes antidepressant medication and short term psychiatric therapy such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) or interpersonal therapy (IPT). Antidepressant drugs are however generally prescribed with caution since they can have an adverse effect on an unborn baby.

Postnatal Depression
The "baby blues" are common after pregnancy and result from changes in hormone levels following childbirth but usually pass within a few day, however many women experience a severe depressive episode after childbirth which goes way beyond the baby blues and often requires some form of treatment.

There are a number of causes for postnatal depression which include having suffered from depression during pregnancy, having a stressful pregnancy, complications during labour and problems with a new born baby's health.

Symptoms of postnatal depression can lead to feelings of being overwhelmed and of being an inadequate mother, difficulties in caring and providing for a newborn baby and an overall lack of bonding with a baby which can have an adverse effect on the baby.

Advice for women with postnatal depression
  • Seek treatment from a qualified health care professional. The sooner you receive adequate treatment the sooner you can enjoy the experience of motherhood
  • Develop a support system of friends and family and allow them to occasionally look after the baby allowing you time to yourself.
  • Eat a balanced diet, exercise and develop good sleeping patterns in a baby as soon as possible. Also get plenty of rest yourself and take naps whilst the baby is asleep or when family or friends are looking after the baby.
  • Take things one step at a time and be gentle on yourself. Adjusting to parenthood takes time so acknowledge any small achievement and those things you do well.
  • Finally if things get to tough call a postnatal depression support service or mental health crisis line for advice and support.

For example when you see many people you dislike in your dreams, this means that you are imitating their behavior. These people represent parts of your own personality. You cannot admit that you are wrong like them because of your ego. This is why the unconscious mind sends you symbolic messages using images and scenes, instead of speaking through words.

You have to understand the unconscious logic if you want to understand the meaning of your dreams. Thus, you must abandon the mistaken concepts of our crazy world, ruled by violence, immorality, hypocrisy, and greed. You have to see the truth as it is.

When you see the entire truth about your behavior, and you understand your own mistakes, you stop suffering. You stop being a slave of your ego, which is manipulated by your anti-conscience.
You learn how to correct your behavior and find peace. You also understand how to organize your life, instead of being a victim of various situations, and a victim of people who disrespect you. Your dreams show you how powerful you are, helping you develop your own intelligence.
